2020 New Orleans Public Belt New Locomotives Photo

The New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPB), upgraded its locomotive fleet with the arrival of eight new locomotives to replace aging engines, improve efficiency, and lower overall emissions. Recognizable by their bright blue color, the new locomotives provide reliable service and support the short-line railroad’s commitment to integrating more sustainable business and operational practices.

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) and U.S. Representatives Cedric Richmond (D-LA) and Steve Scalise (R-LA) announced that the Department of Transportation has awarded about $7.3 million to the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad Corporation (NOPB).

The New Orleans Public Belt Railroad Corporation (NOPB), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA), has named M.D. (Mike) Stolzman as its new General Manager, effective immediately. Stolzman, a highly respected railroad executive with extensive short line and Class I rail experience, will report to Brandy D. Christian, President and CEO of Port NOLA and CEO of NOPB, which is a Class III railroad on the nation’s fourth largest rail gateway that connects with six Class I railroads and serves Port NOLA and local industry.

NOPB launched a new corporate logo, marking the most dramatic change in the company’s visual identity since 1908. Featuring the New Orleans fleur-de-lis, the new logo celebrates NOPB’s synergy with the Port of New Orleans, a partnership started in February 2018. The same vibrant red and subtle blue featured in the original historic “belt” NOPB logo honors where the company has been and its sleek new design looks to the future.
